Kaloob — six months rebuilding a small NGO's communication

What happens when you bring corporate marketing tools to an organisation with no budget and no staff.

I spent six months in the Philippines volunteering with Kaloob, a small organisation that needed help growing. On paper my job was communication and technology. In practice it was working out which of the tools I knew were useful without a budget, a team, or reliable internet.

Most of them weren't. The ones that were: a clear story about who they help and why, written down once so everyone could repeat it; and a handful of free tools set up properly rather than an expensive stack set up badly.

What I'd keep from it: the gap between knowing marketing and being useful to a small organisation is mostly a gap in restraint.
